CRR Scholarship Application Deadline is June 1

The annual CRR Scholarship for high school seniors will be awarded on June 4. Deadline for applying is June 1.  The application is at http://colonialroadrunners.org/CRR_Scholarship_Form.pdf.

The Colonial Road Runners award an annual scholarship to a studentathlete who best exemplifies excellence in running, academics, volunteerism and overall citizenship. This individual is selected from all candidates through a rigorous evaluation process. To be selected means the student-athlete has demonstrated not only a willingness to make the sacrifices necessary to excel in his or her running activities, but also strives toward excellence in all aspects of school and community endeavors. Earning this scholarship reflects on the outstanding character of the recipient and his or her family, and the impact they have made on our society.

SELECTION CRITERIA

The criteria for awarding the CRR scholarship are set by the Scholarship Committee, and are subject to change.

♦ Required:

1. A runner, preferably a distance runner. (Race walkers will be considered if their exploits merit such.)

2. A CRR member since January 1 of year selected.

♦ Very Important:

1. Member of a running team.

2. Strives for excellence and is a competitive runner.

3. High academic achievements.

4. Volunteer activities, both in running and community service.

♦ Moderately Important:

1. A resident of the local Williamsburg/Peninsula area.

♦ Not Important:

1. Financial need.
