Brian Lamprecht's Cancer Hating Challenge

September 30, 2014
Please be a hater!

My father, Ron Lamprecht, was diagnosed with esophageal cancer earlier this year. He is currently undergoing chemotherapy, a brutal treatment that leaves the body frail and fatigued, causes constant nausea and weight loss and leaves the body generally more susceptible to disease. I can't begin to tell you how powerless it must feel to not know how many bites of your next meal you might be able to hold down, or what its like to wonder if the next minor cold that goes around might end up in a major case of pneumonia because your immune system is so weakened. What I can tell you is how powerless it feels looking at a family member wondering how long they can continue to fight through such a ravaging treatment or what it is like to constantly think about how you might eulogize your loved one in the coming weeks or months.

While there may be nothing I can do to help my father's cancer today, I refuse to be powerless. To that end on Oct 18th I have joined the Cancer Hater 24-Hour Challenge and ask for your support as a cancer hater as well. In addition, each month until March I will take on another personal challenge that is still easier than chemo in the hopes of raising more than $1000.00 for cancer research. I hope you will consider donating, knowing that 100% of every dollar donated will go directly to fuel cancer research at the Massey Cancer Center.
Disclaimer: Liking or sharing this post does NOT mean you like or want to share cancer -- it just makes you a cancer hater as well!

You can make your donation to the Massey Cancer Center today by visiting http://support-events.vcu.edu/site/TR/Events/General?px=1085664&pg=personal&fr_id=1250
Thanks for being a hater!
